POSITION SUMMARY
The Technician II role is a mid-level position responsible for supporting other technicians in performing maintenance and repairs, as well as routine services on non-technical facility components such as walls and floors. This position requires adherence to established processes and compliance with both internal and external regulations, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Troubleshooting
- Observes and assesses the condition of facility mechanical and electrical systems, identifying deficiencies and recommending enhancements and repairs.
Maintenance
- Executes tasks in accordance with established protocols and practices.
- Adheres to all relevant internal and external regulations, including those related to environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.
- Conducts regular inspections and monitoring of both technical and non-technical facility components.
- Responds to service requests and performs both preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Operates various facility mechanical and electrical systems.
- Manages the lifecycle of work orders, ensuring that tasks are completed to quality standards and contractual obligations.
- Assists in the execution of the preventative maintenance program, ensuring that deficiencies are documented and escalated appropriately.
Client Relations
- Contributes to tenant and customer satisfaction by delivering services in a professional manner.
Administrative Duties
- Maintains accurate records of maintenance and repair activities within the service management database.
- Tracks and reports the status of maintenance work, initiating documentation for formal approval as necessary.
- Participates in facility-related projects as required.
- Ensures compliance with corporate policies and legal requirements regarding environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.
- Maintains all assigned tools and coordinates repairs or replacements as needed.
- Submits expense reports in a timely manner.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in facility operations and maintenance.
- Familiarity with processes and practices related to facility management.
- Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair non-technical facility components.
- Strong observational skills to identify facility conditions and recommend improvements.
- Willingness to learn and apply knowledge of fire, life, and building codes.
- Commitment to a strong safety mindset and ability to perform work safely.
- Excellent client-service orientation with a sense of urgency.
- Effective communication skills for data exchange and clarification.
- Basic understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.
- Self-motivated and computer literate.
- Proven maintenance and repair skills.
- Availability to work shifts and respond to on-call emergencies as needed.
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment.
- Must meet enhanced security clearance requirements.
- Valid driver's license.
Licenses and Professional Accreditation
- Interest in obtaining a diploma or certificate in a relevant field.
- Eligibility for higher security clearance.
- Relevant certifications such as Building Operator Certification or equivalent are preferred.
