Role Overview

As a Legislative Policy Specialist, you will spearhead initiatives and policy formulation projects within the Technical and Corporate Services (TCS) Division, directly influencing the division's objectives and strategies as outlined in the Municipal Affairs Business Plan. You will oversee legislative and strategic projects, providing guidance to project teams and senior leadership on critical legislative and policy matters.

Key Responsibilities:
The primary duties of this role include (but are not limited to):

1. Oversee regulatory initiatives and direct legislative processes for the TCS division.

Manage divisional regulatory evaluations and amendment processes, advising subject matter experts on proposed changes while ensuring adequate time for review and approval. Cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the subject area and engage in identifying and evaluating issues or opportunities that may necessitate legislative modifications. Create well-structured Ministerial Order packages for approval by Ministerial and Cabinet authorities.

2. Coordinate and engage in strategic multi-stakeholder initiatives.

Manage projects to ensure objectives, deliverables, timelines, and responsibilities are clearly defined and adhered to. Facilitate research and discussions to ensure they are thorough and relevant. Assess the need for and orchestrate stakeholder participation.

3. Formulate policy recommendations and solutions to address current and future policy challenges.

Consult with subject matter experts and stakeholders to investigate issues and opportunities. Lead and engage in policy discussions and the development of effective and innovative solutions. Strategize, assess, and develop policy alternatives and recommendations for senior management review.

4. Provide insights and guidance regarding legislation, policy interpretations, and ongoing projects or issues to divisional personnel, senior management, and stakeholders.

Acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of core business operations, issues, opportunities, government priorities, and environmental scanning information; Through cross-ministry and stakeholder networks, deliver insights and guidance from the division's perspective on the implications of other ministry or stakeholder initiatives;
