Job Title: Medical Consultant - Medicare Programs Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Consultant to join our Medicare Programs Team on a part-time basis. As a Medical Consultant, you will play a critical role in supporting the Medicare Programs Team and will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the Medicare program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support a team of auditors in conducting billing audits and evaluating alternative funding contracts.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance monitoring operations.
  • Participate in the development of risk analysis strategies to utilize departmental resources efficiently.
  • Communicate with providers, government agencies, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain productive relationships.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to the audit team and physicians on billing audit results.
  • Support the development of physician education on the NS fee code and guidelines.
  • Participate in various meetings with government agencies and other stakeholders as required.
Requirements:
  • University degree with a Doctor of Medicine and an active medical license in good standing.
  • 10 to 15 years' experience as a physician in a range of practice settings.
  • Specialist training and administrative experience would be an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout the province of Nova Scotia.
