About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Medicine Physician to provide locum coverage to our community. As a Family Medicine Physician, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages, from infants to seniors.

The clinic is a collaborative practice with two Nurse Practitioners, and you will have access to lab and x-ray services, as well as a network of supportive specialist colleagues from the nearby regional center.

This is a part-time locum opportunity, and you will have the flexibility to shape your schedule and interests. Funding is provided through the rural locum program, with a guaranteed daily rate and remuneration for travel.

Responsibilities
  • Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
  • Advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • Consult with other medical practitioners and act as a patient's advocate
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
  • Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
Qualifications
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) membership
