We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant - Special Education to join our team at the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board. As a key member of our special education team, you will work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to provide instructional support, physical needs support, and facilitate communication for students with special needs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide instructional support to students with special needs, including implementing strategies as directed by teachers and preparing program support materials.
- Assist in supervision and maintain discipline in the classroom, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Contribute to the total care and well-being of students, including physical needs support and facilitating communication.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to implement plans and foster educational and social skills of students with special needs.
- College diploma in Behaviour Science Technology, Developmental Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker, or Social Service Worker, or a diploma in Early Childhood Education or Personal Support Worker Certificate.
- Two to three years of experience working with children/adolescents with learning or developmental disabilities in a formal environment.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in various settings and function within an interdisciplinary team.
- Proven ability to deal with confidential information in a discreet manner and physical ability to perform the work, including possible lifting of children up to 25 kg.
- Knowledge of relevant Special Education resource tools and willingness to accept technical training as required.
- A competitive hourly rate of $25.05.

Please note that this is a supply position, and you will be working on an on-call basis replacing absent staff. Full-time and part-time temporary opportunities are often available and offered to supply staff. Supply staff are considered before external applicants when applying for permanent positions with the board.
