Job Summary
The Grocery Department Manager will play a key role in the success of Arctic Co-ops by overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Grocery Department. This includes managing departmental operations, staff, and achieving financial performance targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Budgeting and Financial Management
Lead and coordinate the activities of the Grocery Department to meet or exceed financial objectives, including sales targets, gross margin targets, and operating costs.
2. Sales and Marketing
Manage resources to generate net savings that meet budgeted targets, controlling expenses and administering policies to ensure profitability.
3. Merchandising
Responsible for maintaining proper merchandising and housekeeping standards in the Grocery Department, including presenting a neat and clean department, supervising promotional activities, and ensuring merchandise is properly faced.
4. Inventory Management
Procure merchandise from approved suppliers, review promotional orders, and place orders in a timely manner to meet designated deadlines.
5. Personnel Management
Oversee and provide day-to-day management of personnel in the grocery/stock department, including recruitment, training, and development.
6. Department Management
Responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Department, including holding weekly informational departmental meetings and attending weekly management meetings.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff. They will also have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
