About the Role:

Giant Tiger is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Grocery Associate to join our team in Orillia. As a key member of our store team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and ensuring a seamless shopping experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Operate electronic cash registers, mainline, and self-checkouts, accurately processing customer transactions and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Replenish merchandise around the checkout area, ensuring a well-stocked and visually appealing store environment.
  • Follow up on hot selling items, completing markdowns and SKU changes as needed, to maintain a competitive pricing strategy.
  • Maintain planograms, labels, tickets, and signing standards, ensuring a consistent and appealing store appearance.
  • Perform cycle counts, as required, to maintain inventory accuracy and prevent stock discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, including those related to tobacco and lottery sales, to maintain a safe and responsible shopping environment.
  • Follow health and safety policies and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Ensure the checkout work area is kept clean and organized, maintaining a high level of store appearance and customer satisfaction.
  • Follow loss prevention best practices, identifying and reporting any potential security risks or incidents.

Requirements:

  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on collaboration and communication.
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of adaptability and flexibility.
  • Attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and quality in all aspects of the job.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and management.

Working Conditions:

The physical demands of this role include standing and walking for extended periods, bending, twisting, and squatting, lifting and moving up to 18 kg (40 lbs), and performing tasks involving firm grasping and repetitive hand motions. The role also requires operating equipment, including using a ladder, and working in a fast-paced environment with a high level of customer interaction.
