About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Plumber Assistant to join our team at ABM Plumbing & Heating Services Inc. As a key member of our plumbing team, you will be responsible for assisting our plumbers in various tasks related to plumbing installations, repairs, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist plumbers in loading, unloading, and transporting construction materials
  • Read blueprints and determine work requirements
  • Instruct apprentices and provide guidance on plumbing tasks
  • Prepare tenders and quotations for plumbing projects
  • Estimate costs and materials for plumbing projects
  • Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to required shape and size
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout of plumbing systems
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors
  • Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings
  • Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
Work Environment

You will be working in a fast-paced construction environment, often in confined spaces, and may be required to work at heights. You will be handling heavy loads and working in a physically demanding role.

Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related field
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Accurate and attention to detail
  • Client-focused and able to work with a variety of clients
  • Physically demanding role requiring heavy lifting and bending
