Current Shifts: All Shifts including weekends, On-call as required

Position Overview:

The Ultrasound Technologist (sonographer) is a highly skilled healthcare professional who operates under general supervision to conduct diagnostic imaging examinations using specialized sonography techniques for body imaging. This role involves utilizing expertise to perform ultrasound examinations that generate detailed and dynamic images of internal organs through high-frequency sound waves. The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for ensuring that the care provided is safe, appropriate, timely, and maximizes the potential of available equipment and resources.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Current Certification from the College of Medical Radiation Technologists.
  • Current registration with Sonography Canada or eligibility for registration within three months; new graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Graduate of a recognized Canadian Ultrasound program.
  • Experience in Small Parts, General, Abdominal, and Obstetrical ultrasound.
  • Demonstrated practical and theoretical ultrasound skills that are accurate and thorough.
  • Knowledge and experience in multiple modalities are considered an asset.
  • Commitment to comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff, patient, and environmental safety.
  • Previous experience in a hospital setting is advantageous.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Commitment to best practices, standards of practice, and lifelong learning.
  • Experience in teaching or training is beneficial.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Dedication to providing excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues, and physicians.
  • Experience in or willingness to be trained in Musculoskeletal, interventional, and vascular ultrasound is a plus.
