Food and Environmental Services Director

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Food and Environmental Services Manager to join our team at Seaforth Long-term Care and Retirement Home.
Job Summary:We are looking for a dynamic and organized individual to oversee the Food and Environmental Services departments. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and providing high-quality dietary services to residents, as well as managing the housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance departments to achieve high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
Responsibilities:- Plan, organize, and provide high-quality dietary services for residents, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
- Select, supervise, and motivate dietary staff, ensuring a high level of productivity and best use of staff capabilities.
- Ensure the environment of all food preparation and storage areas meets Public Health requirements.
- Maintain all records in accordance with policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
- Liaise and consult with residents, families, team members, government officials, and professionals in relation to resident care needs and department activities.
- Participate in the budgeting process and be accountable for the departmental budget and food costs.
- Current membership in the Canadian Society of Nutritional Management (C.S.N.M.) or a Registered Dietician required.
- Post-secondary education in dietary management and the successful completion of a recognized Food Services Program.
- Minimum 2 years dietary management experience in a long-term care setting.
- Strong leadership skills to direct the work of employees.
- Superb organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
- Experience managing employees within a unionized setting.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety practices, principles, and legislation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Supervision of contractors' work to ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations.
- Preparation and management of departmental budgets; inventory management and control, including purchase of departmental supplies and equipment.
- Full participation in leadership team activities and responsibilities, including participation on teams and committees, and reporting.
- Manage all aspects of management of quality and quantity of services and products provided and produced by departmental staff.
- Maintenance of records, statistics, and reports in accordance with home policies, and all applicable legislation and standards.
- Experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- Formal training in building maintenance is an asset.
- Health and safety certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and/or prevailing practices relating to housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance, as applicable.
- Experience in a maintenance role within a resident or guest building with long-term care setting, preferred.
- Experience in management of human and financial resources an asset.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both English and French preferred.
- Ability to complete a vulnerable sector check.
- Ability to work day shifts with some on-call capabilities.
- Ability to meet physical and safety requirements of the job (standing for long periods, bending, lifting, etc.).
