About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team in the Department of Public Works. As a key member of our Highway Programs Division, you will be responsible for managing all phases of bridge and highway construction and rehabilitation, ensuring that contractors perform all aspects of the work to our plans and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and oversee pre-engineering and survey work
  • Produce timely quantity and cost estimates
  • Perform efficient and cost-effective contract administration
  • Recommend construction improvements based on assessments of field conditions
  • Contribute to the design of highways and structures
  • Supervise office and technical staff
  • Maintain good public relations with various agencies, property owners, and the general public
Requirements

You must have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and be registered with Engineers Nova Scotia as an Engineer-in-Training or as Licensed to Practice. You should have technical expertise related to bridge and highway maintenance and rehabilitation strategies, proficiency in a computerized environment, and a working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
