About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team in the Emergency Department at South Shore Regional Hospital. Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain comprehensive health histories and conduct thorough physical assessments to inform diagnosis and treatment plans
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, and implement treatment plans based on assessment and investigation results
  • Provide high-quality patient care, demonstrating expertise in emergency medicine and a commitment to patient-centered care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures to enhance patient care and safety
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program in Canada or the United States
  • Certification through the Physician Assistant's Certification Council (PACC) or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants
  • Medical Liability Insurance required
  • Recent experience in emergency medicine, with a strong understanding of emergency department operations and protocols
