Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diesel Shop Manager to join our team at First Student Canada. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our diesel shop, ensuring maximum productivity and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and Supervise Shop Activities: Utilize our VMS computer program to schedule and supervise all shop activities, ensuring maximum productivity and efficiency.
  • Facility Upgrades and Budgeting: Make recommendations and obtain quotations for facility upgrades, participate in setting shop budget, and conduct monthly reviews with the Location Manager to ensure goals are being met.
  • Fleet Maintenance: Ensure our branch fleet is maintained to government and company requirements, including brake, safety, and PM inspections.
  • Facility Maintenance: Maintain company facilities in a clean, safe, and environmentally sound manner.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Provide monthly reports to the Regional Maintenance Manager and participate in company-provided educational programs to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Requirements:

  • Education: Grade 12 Education
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid mechanic's license
  • Experience: At least 3 years of supervisory or fleet management experience, preferably in the diesel mechanic field
  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and management skills, as well as knowledge of VMS or similar fleet maintenance systems
