Job Title: Executive Director, University Procurement

The University of Toronto seeks a seasoned leader to drive the strategic direction of its procurement function. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Executive Director will play a critical role in shaping the university's procurement strategies, policies, and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement institutional procurement strategies, policies, and systems that align with the university's vision, goals, and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with broader public sector procurement regulations and leverage data, technology, and purchasing power to drive cost efficiencies.
  • Partner with senior management, faculty, and departmental users, as well as external stakeholders, to deliver innovative and solutions-focused financial stewardship.
  • Oversee the staff of the university's procurement services department, directing the work of the unit to deliver on a vision to be innovative and solutions-focused financial stewards.
Requirements:
  • University degree in business, supported by a Public Procurement certification or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Progressive leadership experience in public sector procurement, with a proven track record of managing and motivating effective teams in a complex, unionized environment.
  • Knowledge of Ontario standards and laws governing procurement, and procurement trends and developments in the private and public sectors.
  • Strong business acumen, project management, problem-solving, process improvement, and negotiation skills.
