The Department of Oceanography at Dalhousie University is seeking a distinguished researcher to fill the Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Ocean Particle Fluxes. This prestigious position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the quantitative understanding of particle fluxes and their impact on global element cycles, with a focus on the carbon cycle.
Research FocusThe successful candidate will be expected to develop an ambitious research program that addresses the effects of particle fluxes on global element cycles, with a particular emphasis on the carbon cycle. This may involve investigating particle fluxes in open ocean or carbon-rich coastal marine ecosystems, or other relevant ocean environments.
Qualifications and ResponsibilitiesThe ideal candidate will be a mid to late career researcher with a strong record of conducting and leading world-class research. They will be expected to contribute to the supervision of graduate students and the undergraduate and graduate curriculum of the department.
Support and ResourcesThe successful applicant will have access to research support from the Ocean Frontier Institute (OFI), which brings together elite researchers and institutes from across the globe to tackle complex ocean challenges. They will also have access to state-of-the-art laboratory space at Dalhousie University.
