Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Ocean Particle Fluxes

The Department of Oceanography at Dalhousie University is seeking a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Ocean Particle Fluxes. The successful candidate will contribute to the quantitative understanding of the effects of particle fluxes on global element cycles, with a focus on the carbon cycle.
Research FocusThe research will focus on reducing uncertainty in the climate carbon budget by quantifying sedimentary carbon fluxes and researching their link to past and projected future climate change. Alternatively, it will inform ocean-based climate change mitigation by guiding societal measures to protect and enhance the sedimentary carbon removal potential of key ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct and lead world-class research in ocean particle fluxes and climate change
- Supervise graduate students and contribute to the undergraduate and graduate curriculum of the department
- Engage with the Ocean Frontier Institute (OFI) and its research programs
