Job Summary:

The District of Saanich is seeking a skilled Building Service Worker I to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine custodial care, cleaning, and daily maintenance of municipal buildings and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform custodial and maintenance tasks, including cleaning, disinfecting, and restocking facilities
  • Assist with routine ice maintenance and Zamboni operations at the G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre
  • Conduct minor building and equipment repairs, and perform routine maintenance tasks
  • Operate and maintain equipment, including cleaning and sanitizing equipment and tools
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to WHMIS certification and other safety protocols

Requirements:

  • Grade 11 or equivalent education
  • Building Service Worker Level 1 certification
  • Three months of related experience
  • Valid WHMIS certification within one year
  • Satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector check (PIC-VS)
