Job Summary:We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care in our Critical Care Unit. The successful candidate will have recent experience in adult medical and surgical care, with a focus on critical care.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Conduct regular patient assessments and document findings in the patient's medical record.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor patient vital signs and respond to changes in patient condition.
- Participate in patient care conferences and contribute to the development of patient care plans.
- Provide education and support to patients and families regarding patient care and treatment.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of unit policies and procedures.
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Recent experience in adult medical and surgical care, with a focus on critical care.
- IV certification preferred.
- Experience in care of critically ill patients.
- Current competence in Cardiac Monitoring Skills.
- ACLS and Coronary care preferred.
- Current Certification in C.P.R. at Basic Rescuer Level or equivalent.
- CNA certification in MS nursing and/or Gerontological Nursing preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of gerontology and related skills and judgment.
- Team leadership skills to effectively direct nursing staff and co-ordinate the interdisciplinary plan of patient care.
- Demonstrated effective skills in the provision of family support integral to provide client-centered care.
- Leadership skills in patient care planning conferences based on current best practices of related fields, e.g. Palliative Care.
- Ability to assess patient/family needs in a Minimum Data Set (MDS) framework and direct staff in documenting within these standards.
- Ability to work independently and to perform duties in the physical demands of work area.
- P.I.E.C.E.S. and Gentle Persuasive Approach [GPA] training is preferred.
- Demonstrates effective use of a computer for EHR documentation purposes.
