Job Title: Network Analyst I

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled Network Analyst I to join its team. As a key member of the Network Infrastructure Services unit, this role will be responsible for providing second-level technical, operational, and administrative support for UBC's network infrastructure and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Consult with users to determine technical support requirements for network systems, including monitoring network activity and troubleshooting and diagnosing network problems.
  • Monitor facilities capacity requirements, schedule requests for bandwidth, and adjust bandwidth on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Assess network performance to ensure it meets present and future needs of the enterprise.
  • Assist in the development of disaster recovery plans and execute network test plans.
  • Implement network security procedures and predetermined software or hardware changes to rectify any security issues.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in supporting enterprise LAN/WAN, large campus networks, network operations, network security, and network management.
  • Knowledge and experience working in routing and switching, network security, network monitoring, management, analysis, and orchestration systems.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and work under pressure to resolve challenges and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CCNA or other similar advanced technical certification in routing, switching, or network security.
  • Knowledge of software-defined networks and Cisco certifications.
