Perinatal Nurse Specialist

The Perinatal Nurse Specialist:
•Delivers high-quality, client-centered care to patients in a perinatal clinical setting, utilizing specialized knowledge and skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate client care.
•Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients and their families, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal outcomes.
•Demonstrates expertise in perinatal nursing, staying up-to-date with the latest research, evidence-based practices, and guidelines to provide best-in-class care.
This is a relief part-time opportunity until March 31, 2025, or the return of the incumbent. Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights, rotating from 07:30 to 19:30, 19:30 to 07:30 hours.
About this location/unit:
As part of the Women's and Children's Health Services team, you will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, caring for a variety of patient types from preterm to adult, following them through their individual journeys. Ante-/intra-/post-partum patients will be among those you care for. Our new state-of-the-art Tower will provide private family room spaces and a connection to our amazing NICU space, improving care needs.
The position requires flexibility and adaptability, with opportunities to impact more than just bedside care. With a willingness to participate in a highly engaged team environment, you can influence the entire unit in evidence-based change. We all have things to learn from one another, and on WCHS in Kamloops, we are always growing and learning to ensure high-quality care.
We pride ourselves on setting new staff up for success, with education days and unit orientation to ensure you feel prepared to care for our diverse patient population. Ongoing education and commitment to improve and maintain skills are essential, with an educator on the unit and in-house SIMS equipment for continuing education. Opportunities to take on special projects, enroll in additional education, and pursue leadership are promoted and available. Our team works closely with experts, including multidisciplinary teams, physicians, obstetricians, pediatricians, midwives, social workers, dieticians, and more.
