Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Mundo Peetabeck Education Authority. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for preparing, teaching, and assessing academic subjects, on par with the Ontario curriculum. You will also incorporate First Nation cultural knowledge and activities into the curriculum and classroom teaching, in collaboration with the Language and Cultural coordinator.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Assessment

    Prepare and deliver lesson plans, assessments, and evaluations to meet the needs of students with special needs.

  • Culturally Responsive Teaching

    Incorporate First Nation cultural knowledge and activities into the curriculum and classroom teaching, in collaboration with the Language and Cultural coordinator.

  • Professional Development

    Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and culturally responsive teaching.

  • Communication and Collaboration

    Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure student success and well-being.

  • Leadership and Teamwork

    Work collaboratively with the school team to develop and implement individualized student and family-centered educational plans.

  • Crisis Response and Management

    Provide crisis response and management for students who are experiencing significant behavioral and emotional challenges.

Requirements
  • Education and Certification

    Ontario College of Teachers certification (preferred)

  • Experience and Skills

    Experience working with students with special needs, knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices, and excellent computer literacy skills.

  • Personal Qualities

    Excellent interpersonal skills, classroom management skills, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
