Registered Dental Assistant

Your Role:
As a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) within Alberta Health Services' Population Health Promotion Program, you will play a vital role in delivering oral health services across the South Zone. You will be a key member of the Oral Health Action Plan (OHAP) team, providing preventative care and education to individuals, families, and groups in diverse settings such as schools, clinics, and community centers.
Your Responsibilities:
- Conduct visual dental screenings, applying fluoride varnish and fissure sealants as preventative measures.
- Provide health education, supportive counseling, and referrals for further evaluation when necessary.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of zone-wide strategies related to the OHAP.
- Maintain accurate client records and manage scheduling processes for pre-school clinics, school-based, and community Fluoride Varnish and Sealant programs.
- Coordinate travel arrangements for service delivery and manage clinical supplies and resources.
- Support new staff through orientation and ongoing guidance.
- Collect data to report program outcomes and workload measures.
- Conduct visual examinations of the oral cavity, identifying and documenting any cavitations, urgent concerns, or other dental issues.
- Apply sealants and fluoride varnish according to established policies and procedures.
- Follow up with caregivers regarding identified issues and urgent concerns, providing referrals as needed.
- Offer information about available resources to assist in meeting a child's oral health needs.
- Ensure the maintenance of dental equipment and clinical areas, adhering to optimal disinfection and sterilization protocols.
