Your Role in Supporting Young AdultsWe are seeking a:
Cultural Connection Worker
Full-Time Permanent Position - Post Majority Housing
(Compensation: $32/hr. - $37/hr.)
The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of Dakelh cultural practices and teachings relevant to Young Indigenous Adults. Understanding the health and social determinants affecting those who may have been in care and are currently receiving Post Majority Services is essential. This role involves providing support to the Post Majority Team and offering cultural assistance to young adults participating in the program by facilitating cultural connections and opportunities.
The Cultural Connection Worker will work collaboratively within a team environment, delivering specific support to Young Adults residing in our supportive housing program. This position focuses on providing cultural support and fostering cultural and community connections tailored to meet the individual needs of each Young Adult engaged in their cultural journey. The program is designed for Dakelh Young Adults aged 19 to 26 years and is a full-time commitment.
Qualifications:
- Relevant education and training combined with experience in the youth care sector;
- Willingness and capability to assist Young Adults in identifying, developing, and enhancing their cultural identity and personal life plans;
- Knowledge of Dakelh language and culture, as well as community services, resources, and systems;
- Experience working with Indigenous groups and communities in a cultural context;
- Certifications in First Aid, Class 4 Driver's License, Crisis Prevention Intervention, Suicide Intervention, and Food Safe are required, though we will consider applicants willing to obtain these after hire;
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal record check.
