Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated **Metalworking Machine Set-Up Operator** to join our team at **Commercial Spring and Tool Company Limited**. This position offers a **permanent employment** opportunity with a **40-hour work week**.

Work Environment

The role involves working in a **hot and noisy environment**, requiring the ability to manage physical demands and maintain focus in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect products to ensure they meet specified shapes, dimensions, and other criteria.
  • Maintain machinery by cleaning and lubricating equipment regularly.
  • Shape and form metal stock into parts or products through various processes including cutting, bending, rolling, and welding.
  • Document completed work accurately for record-keeping.
  • Identify and troubleshoot minor issues to facilitate repairs.
  • Set up and operate multiple light or heavy metalworking machines.
  • Utilize equipment to weld, solder, and rivet metal components together.
  • Operate forging machines for hot or cold shaping of metal.
  • Read and interpret technical specifications and follow verbal instructions effectively.
  • Transport materials to the work area using manual methods or machinery.
Equipment Proficiency

Experience with the following is essential:

  • Lifting devices
  • Overhead cranes
  • Power and punch presses
  • CNC machines
  • Hand tools
Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • A relevant trades certificate or diploma, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of **5 years** of experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to pass a **criminal record check**.
Transportation and Travel

Having **own transportation** is preferred, although public transport options are available.

Physical Requirements

The position demands:

  • Attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Capability to handle heavy loads (up to **30 lbs**).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Working effectively under pressure.
