Position Overview

As a Game Designer at Ubi MTL, you will be the driving force behind a distinct array of game systems and mechanics. Your role is to equip players with tools that enable them to craft unique gameplay experiences and make impactful choices.

You will engage in an iterative, hands-on approach to refine and balance your designs as they transition from concept to playable form. Throughout the production phase, you will alternate between focusing on the overarching vision and the intricate details, addressing challenges in development while assessing how all components interrelate and influence one another. You will fine-tune and adjust until a seamless and captivating player experience is achieved.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and manage the design of high-quality gameplay features from initial concept to final implementation.
  2. Develop new systems and features while optimizing and adjusting existing ones.
  3. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate your designated features.
  4. Create in-engine prototypes to test and validate concepts.
  5. Adapt designs to meet technical and production constraints, revising as necessary.
  6. Produce and maintain design documentation to guide interdependent teams.
Qualifications
  1. Experience in video game production, particularly with multiplayer or first-person shooter genres.
  2. A keen ability to identify exceptional game feel and translate player fantasies into gameplay mechanics.
  3. Proficiency with game engines (e.g., Unity or Unreal) and productivity tools (word processors, spreadsheets, etc.).
  4. A creative, empathetic, and collaborative mindset.
  5. Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate your thought process clearly.
  6. Critical thinking, curiosity, resourcefulness, and adaptability.
  7. A comprehensive understanding of the competitive first-person shooter landscape and a passion for gaming, with insights into what constitutes quality gameplay.
