LOCATION: Toronto

SHIFT: Night Shift 11PM – 7AM Monday to Friday

POSITION OVERVIEW

The role involves splicing, a manufacturing process that utilizes heated molds to connect pre-cut rubber strips into circular gaskets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Ensure the workspace is safe and organized before commencing tasks.

· Confirm that the mold temperature is set correctly prior to the splicing process.

· Prepare rubber strips for splicing as necessary, including dipping, sanding, heating, and cleaning strip ends.

· Inspect rubber strips for straight cuts and clean ends before splicing.

· Load tape rolls into the tape machine and conduct visual quality checks.

· Position gaskets into the press.

· Insert splicing tape between gasket ends as required.

· Close the mold; the automatic timer will release it once the curing time is complete.

· Remove the gasket and eliminate any flashing.

· Conduct visual inspections for defects such as cracks, lumps, and pinholes.

· Inject silicone into the gasket.

· Use a pneumatic anvil to break the splice seal.

· Place the gasket on the silicone spreader and check for leaks.

· Package completed gaskets.

· Ensure the correct quantity of gaskets is placed in each box.

· Document and record all necessary information accurately.

· Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision to meet production goals.

· Maintain adherence to company quality and production standards.

· Follow all company policies and procedures diligently.

INTERACTIONS

· Daily communication with the Shift Supervisor, Lead Hand, and Quality Assurance Inspector.

· Occasional interactions with the Production Manager, Operational Excellence Team, Health & Safety Manager, Plant Manager, and other departments as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

· The position requires spending nearly all working hours in a plant setting, involving varying levels of light physical labor, including lifting, pulling (less than 15 lbs.), standing, and walking.

· The incumbent must understand and adhere to workplace Health & Safety regulations derived from the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills are essential.

· A safety-conscious mindset is required.

· A high school diploma is preferred.

· Basic proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is necessary.

· Ability to use or willingness to learn various measuring tools related to the gasket manufacturing process.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

HOURLY RATE: Includes a shift premium of 5% of the employee's regular rate for each hour worked on this shift.

HEALTH INSURANCE: Fully covered by the employer.
