Deputy Manager – Keethanow Lumber and Furniture

Position Overview
The Keethanow Group of Businesses is seeking qualified candidates for a Permanent Full-Time Assistant Manager role at Keethanow Furniture and Lumber.
Key Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting upper management in overseeing daily store operations.
- Filling in for the Store Manager when necessary.
- Supporting personnel management activities, including interviews, promotions, and performance evaluations.
- Providing guidance and support to store associates as needed.
- Maintaining store conditions to meet established standards.
- Helping to create weekly staffing schedules to align with business needs.
- Acquiring knowledge of pricing and products related to lumber and store inventory.
- Loading and unloading deliveries, utilizing a forklift when required.
- Delivering products as necessary.
- Maintaining necessary licenses and physical requirements for the role.
- Greeting and assisting customers, setting a positive example for staff.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant legislation.
- Addressing customer complaints and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Adhering to health, safety, and security regulations.
- Completing end-of-day reports and managing inventory in the absence of the manager.
- Overseeing inventory management processes.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess:
- A high school diploma and relevant vocational training.
- A strong service orientation.
- Experience in the lumber industry is preferred.
- Supervisory experience in a retail setting is preferred.
- Forklift operation skills.
- A valid class 5 driver's license.
- The ability to lift and carry objects weighing at least 90 pounds.
- Physical capability to bend, stretch, and reach as required.
- Safe maneuvering and climbing skills for ladders.
- Basic math skills for operational tasks.
- Excellent time management and prioritization abilities.
- Proven skills in training and motivating staff.
- Ability to monitor and evaluate staff performance.
- Basic office administration skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- A professional and positive attitude.
- Understanding of health and safety legislation.
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Driver's Abstract.
