ASSISTANT MANAGER
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
- Assist upper management in overseeing and coordinating daily store operations.
- Act as the Store Manager in their absence, ensuring smooth operations.
- Support key personnel management tasks, including interviews, promotions, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
- Provide guidance and direction to all store associates as needed.
- Maintain store conditions to meet established standards consistently.
- Help create weekly staffing schedules to align with business requirements.
- Acquire knowledge of pricing and products related to lumber and store offerings.
- Assist with loading and unloading deliveries, utilizing a forklift when necessary.
- Deliver products as required.
- Maintain necessary licenses and physicals to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Welcome and assist customers, setting a positive example for staff.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and relevant legislation by all staff members.
- Address customer complaints as they arise, escalating issues as needed.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and security regulations.
- Prepare end-of-day reports and manage inventory in the absence of the manager.
- Oversee and assist with inventory management tasks.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Completion of high school and relevant vocational or technical training.
- Demonstrated service orientation.
- Preferred experience in the lumber industry.
- Preferred supervisory experience in a retail setting.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Valid class 5 driver's license.
- Capability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing at least 90 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach, involving repetitive motions.
- Proficient in safely maneuvering and climbing ladders.
- Basic math skills for performing calculations.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- Proven ability to train and motivate staff.
- Skills to monitor and evaluate staff performance.
- Basic office administration capabilities.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong teamwork abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Well-developed sense of diplomacy.
- Thorough understanding of applicable health and safety regulations.
- Professional, responsive, and positive work attitude.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Driver's Abstract.
