Key Responsibilities
- Monitor the status of clients requiring respiratory support and recommend interventions to optimize care.
- Conduct educational sessions for staff, clients, and families.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Ensure that all duties are completed and documented appropriately.
- Respond to emergency situations, including Code Blue calls.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with clients and their caregivers.
- Follow directives and propose enhancements to policies and procedures.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, and evaluate new technologies.
- Pursue professional growth through ongoing education.
- Uphold personal and professional standards in alignment with the C.R.T.O.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Participate in scheduled on-call responsibilities.
- Adhere to the principles of Client and Family Centered Care, which emphasize collaboration, information sharing, and respect for families and the community.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives, maintain a safe work environment, and promote a culture of client safety through daily practices.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
- Preferred membership in C.S.R.T. and/or R.T.S.O.
- Current BCLS certification—Basic Rescuer.
- Experience in critical care, respiratory rehabilitation, and complex continuing care.
- Experience working with children with neuromuscular conditions (e.g., DMD) is preferred.
- Background in chronic respiratory care/rehabilitation is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and diverse client population.
- Proven initiative and capability to function effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
