Job Title: Training Coordinator F/H

The Student's Society of McGill University (SSMU) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Training Coordinator. As a key member of the SSMU External Affairs team, you will be responsible for managing, creating, updating, and delivering training programs on eating disorders, diet culture, and workout culture to all members of the EDCSSMU and the McGill community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the development and review of Eating Disorder Centre of SSMU training materials
  • Review and provide content for eating disorder-related training materials of other peer support organizations
  • Consult with relevant stakeholders and community organizations on training materials
  • Provide support, events, and communications volunteers with centre- and role-specific training at the beginning of each semester
  • Check-in with volunteers regularly throughout the semester and provide feedback and additional training when needed
  • Arrange for external organizations and facilitators to provide anti-oppression trainings to Eating Disorder Centre of SSMU members
  • Reach out to different organizations on campus to develop collaborations, relationships, and provide trainings
  • Create a variety of trainings relating to normalized toxic behaviors around food, exercise, and bodies
  • Conduct surveys and assess interest and need for different training content
  • Provide trainings and workshops to external organizations, McGill student services, and the wider McGill community
  • Work with the Campaign and General Coordinators to create, arrange, and provide trainings for divisions of the McGill & Montreal Community around eating disorders
  • Arrange for external organizations and facilitators to provide anti-oppression trainings to EDCSSMU members
  • Complete the facilitation guide, ensuring all steps are checked to ensure seamless facilitation
  • Collect and keep organized data on all internal and external trainings throughout the term
  • Check in with an appointed admin team member to check progress and voice issues/concerns
Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of current mental health initiatives and issues, particularly in a university context
  • Comfort and knowledge of all current and past operations and events of the service
  • Past experience as a support volunteer in a mental health organization, within the EDCSSMU is an asset
  • Extensive knowledge around eating disorders including but not limited to clinical treatment, discrimination, privilege, queer body image, trauma, and substance abuse
  • Diligence and impartiality in execution of duties
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Active listening experience
  • Outreach and Relationship Building skills
  • Organized and capable of following through on a project
  • Initiative and results-driven
  • Management and leadership skills
  • Relationship building and negotiation skills
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Knowledge of the SSMU and McGill University
  • Demonstrated understanding of anti-racism and anti-oppressive practice
  • Lived experience or knowledge relating to eating disorders or mental illness an asset
  • Strong communication skills both in English and French an asset
  • Involvement in Mental Health initiatives on campus is an asset
What We Offer:
  • Paid position: $15.96
  • Contract dates: May 20th, 2024 to May 31st, 2025
