Data Governance and Compliance Expert

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our data management team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive data governance framework that ensures the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of our data assets.
Key Responsibilities- Data Governance Framework Development: Design and implement a data governance framework that aligns with organizational goals and facilitates effective decision-making related to data management.
- Data Stewardship and Ownership: Assign roles and responsibilities for data stewardship and ownership within the organization, ensuring that data stewards are accountable for data quality, security, and compliance.
- Data Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire lifecycle of data from creation and storage to archiving and deletion, implementing best practices for data retention, backup, and recovery to ensure data availability and integrity.
- Data Quality Management: Ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability across the organization, implementing data validation and cleansing processes to maintain high-quality data.
- Data Security and Privacy: Establish policies and controls to protect data from unauthorized access, breaches, and misuse, ensuring compliance with relevant data protection regulations and standards.
- Degree in Computer Science, Library and Information Sciences, or equivalent discipline.
- Minimum five years' experience working on data governance projects in a cross-functional environment with multiple data sources/repositories.
- Demonstrated experience developing requirements and working with and implementing data management products and data management best practices.
- Experience developing requirements and working with data governance and data quality tools such as Azure Purview, Informatica, Altyryx, and Collibra Talend.
- Ability to recommend process improvements for enterprise data management processes.
- Seasoned self-starter who is excited by a quickly developing environment, with the ability to react to changes rapidly.
- Proven ability to independently analyze problems and find innovative solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including developing and delivering presentations to staff at all levels of the organization along with relationship building and influencing skills.
- Results oriented and deadline driven, with the ability to work with a great degree of autonomy.
- Ability to multi-task, set priorities, coordinate and schedule.
