Job Summary:

The Material Handler is a key member of the Sonoco team, responsible for ensuring the efficient removal of finished goods from production areas and packaging them according to specifications. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Remove finished goods from all slitter machine areas and package them according to packing specifications.
  • Enter quantities into company computer reporting systems.
  • Transport work-in-process materials through the production process and support production departments.
  • Prepare finished goods for shipment.
  • Verify materials for Shipping/Receiving to bill of lading and packing list.
  • Load and unload finished goods onto trucks.
  • Communicate and coordinate with previous and following shifts.
  • Maintain all company health, safety, and housekeeping standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Good level of computer and mechanical aptitude skills.
  • Prior production/warehouse experience.
  • Familiarity with ISO/LO/TO.
  • Valid fork-truck license.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job.
  • Availability to work 12-hour rotating continental shifts (2 weeks working days, then 2 weeks working nights).
  • Age 18 or older.
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
