About the Role

Canadian Blood Services is seeking a temporary full-time Business Systems Analyst II to become part of our vibrant Internal Customer Experience Blood Management Solutions team.

The Internal Customer Experience team is tasked with overseeing the delivery and operation of IT services that enhance employee experience and productivity, blood operations, data analytics, and optimization, ensuring IT is effective, reliable, and consistent.

In this capacity, you will play a crucial role in supporting the design, development, and execution of the ePROGESA Collections Modernization initiative, a long-term project focused on transforming the collections process.

The Blood Management Solutions team functions in a dynamic and challenging environment, driving strategic business analysis, process development, and technological solutions to meet the national requirements of Canadian Blood Services. This team manages essential software solutions and technologies for the collection, testing, manufacturing, and distribution of blood and blood products. It is vital in defining and managing the requirements and design of our enterprise blood management solutions, including ePROGESA. Furthermore, the team oversees the software lifecycle, maintains strong relationships with key business, quality, and regulatory stakeholders, and manages critical donor and customer information essential to our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilizing your expertise as a business systems analyst, engage with key business stakeholders to discuss and assess proposed changes, conduct analysis, and gather requirements.
  • Applying your knowledge of blood management processes and solutions, perform design, development, and configuration of strategic enhancements and modifications to blood management systems.
  • Using your skills in software testing and technical documentation, conduct system validation and complete the necessary documentation to support the implementation of each change.
  • As a representative of the Blood Management Solutions team, collaborate with quality assurance and regulatory affairs personnel to effectively communicate changes and impacts to our regulated blood management solutions, ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance.
  • Employing your expertise in system lifecycle management, participate in project management and software release planning sessions to ensure timely delivery of effective changes that align with business needs.
  • Utilizing your communication and engagement skills, act as a liaison with other IT stakeholders and software vendors to manage required technical enhancements, software fixes, and maintenance, as well as overall system lifecycle management activities.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field from a recognized institution, preferably a related university degree or diploma in science or business, and/or significant experience/certification in business analysis, software development methodologies, and enterprise software lifecycle management.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience as a business systems analyst or relevant business analysis experience in blood banking operations and process design.
  • Prior experience with blood management solutions software is preferred.
  • Experience in a regulated healthcare environment aligned with quality management systems is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment, with customers/end users, project team members, and other IT personnel to successfully deliver small to medium-sized initiatives of high quality within defined timelines.
  • Proven ability to adapt and learn in a dynamic, challenging, and continuous improvement-focused environment that is constantly evolving to meet business community needs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English).
