The Opportunity

The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is seeking a skilled Second Cook to join our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will play a vital role in preparing high-quality dishes for our guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook for assigned stations, ensuring a clean and sanitary work environment and adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors to confirm menu requirements, special dietary needs, and mise en place lists.
  • Transfer food items from refrigerators and freezers to workstations and maintain proper storage of leftovers.
  • Clean and sanitize refrigerators and freezers to the highest standards.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 2 years of culinary experience in a high-volume restaurant or hotel, with a focus on buffet and large-volume production.
  • Some post-secondary education is required, ideally working towards a Journeyman Cook's certificate or Red Seal.
  • Ability to take direction and provide guidance in English.

Employment Terms and Benefits

  • This is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500-hour probationary period.
  • The hourly rate is $20.74, with the possibility of working up to 40 hours per week on a rotating schedule.
