Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Clerk to join our Hereditary Cancer Program team at PHSA. As a Unit Clerk, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the program, ensuring seamless communication and coordination with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient appointments, diagnostic tests, and procedures, ensuring timely and efficient communication with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Process clinician orders, prepare requisitions, and maintain accurate records in the electronic health record system.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patient inquiries, and addressing concerns in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to gather patient information, prepare documents, and support clinical operations.
  • Perform a variety of administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, and maintaining accurate records.

Requirements

  • Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
