About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Literacy Coordinator & Facilitator to join our team at The Calgary John Howard Society. As a key member of our Adult Community Services team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality literacy services to adult foundational learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans for adult learners, focusing on reading, writing, and digital literacy skills.
  • Provide one-on-one and group tutoring, using a trauma-informed and learner-centered approach.
  • Collaborate with community agencies to ensure seamless service delivery and referrals.
  • Conduct assessments, evaluations, and outcomes reporting to inform program development and improvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and learners to promote program awareness and engagement.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Education, Adult Learning, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching foundational learners, with a focus on trauma-informed and learner-centered practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Group facilitation experience and proficiency in outcomes measurement and evaluation tools.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with grant applications and report writing.
  • Current CPIC clearance and previous experience working with marginalized populations.
