Job Opportunity

As a Director on the Real Estate team at Royal Bank of Canada, you will be responsible for driving business development and managing a portfolio of commercial real estate clients. Your primary focus will be on providing lending solutions for low-rise and high-rise residential real estate projects, as well as income-producing real estate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of real estate clients and deliver on financing requests to support income-producing real estate, predevelopment, land servicing, and construction costs for low-rise and high-rise residential projects.
  • Oversee loan structuring and maintain responsibility for quality of credit underwriting.
  • Mentor and coach Associate Directors in deal structuring, negotiation skills, RBC lending guidelines, policies, and risk appetite, profitability requirements.
  • Proactively maintain the health and integrity of accounts from a portfolio quality management perspective.
  • Develop and maintain a strong external network in the real estate community, including lending syndicate partners, law firms, cost consultants, etc.
Requirements
  • Previous real estate lending experience.
  • Proven track record in sales and business development and exceptional client relationship management.
  • Superior negotiation skills supported by deep industry expertise.
  • Excellent credit structuring and underwriting skills, and strong background of project budget and financial statement analysis.
  • Strong computer skills (especially Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Motivated proactive thinker with detail-oriented and creative problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to quickly develop a working knowledge of programs and systems employed by the Bank.
