Role Responsibilities:

  • This position is a long-term opportunity within General Dynamics Land Systems, focusing on support for the Department of National Defence (DND).
  • As part of the DAVPM 2 Equipment Management Team (EMT), this role is integral to the Optimized Weapon System Support (OWSS) for the Wheeled Light Armoured Vehicle (WLAV) Fleet Technical Services (FTS) Team.
  • The Life Cycle Material Manager (LCMM) aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of sustainment operations while reducing life cycle costs and minimizing downtime for the assigned materials.
  • Conduct Life Cycle Material Management tasks across essential functional areas such as Engineering, Logistics, Configuration Management (CM), Technical Data, Procurement, Supply, Quality Assurance, and Disposal.
  • Address and respond to technical feedback from users and maintainers.
  • Advise the EMT on matters that could affect fleet availability.
  • Provide Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) to the OWSS team, including updates to the Logistic Support Analysis Record (LSAR), task development, technical data, waivers, and deviations.
  • Perform regular site visits to units, bases, supply depots, work centers, and General Dynamics Land Systems locations.
  • Collaborate with supply support organizations to resolve supply management challenges.
  • Engage with other EMT groups concerning WLAV equipment not under the WLAV EMT's purview.
  • Document, prioritize, analyze, and address problem reports (PRs).
  • Draft Statements of Work (SOWs) for technical tasks carried out by contractors or other agencies.
  • Assess proposals, reports, and demonstrations from contractors or other agencies.
  • Evaluate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Equipment Support List Change Notices (ESLCNs) for their supportability impacts and technical viability.
  • Coordinate with DND scaling and cataloguing organizations.
  • Maintain all technical and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) data managed by the EMT.
  • Ensure access to and update all technical information in DRMIS.
  • Coordinate updates to technical and ILS data conducted by contractors.
  • Conduct vendor and Canadian Forces Base (CFB) visits to investigate technical and CM/SE/ILS/LCMM issues with DND personnel.
  • Provide technical assistance to the EMT Supply Management Planners.
  • Review all supply demands to confirm requirements, prioritize issues, monitor stock levels, and identify candidates for new procurement.
  • Support the analysis of fleet supportability performance.
  • Offer technical guidance and support to CAF field units, whether in domestic or international operations/exercises.
  • Manage serialized equipment and tooling within DRMIS.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Embrace a mindset focused on continuous process improvements and efficiencies.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in the National Capital Region.
  • University degree and/or college diploma, or equivalent experience as a Military Vehicle Technician and/or 310T Truck and Coach Mechanic Certification.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Valid Provincial Driver's License.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of DND maintenance and supply processes.
  • Comprehensive product knowledge of WLAV automotive and/or turret systems.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain Level II security clearance.
  • Understanding of the theories, principles, policies, and procedures of the Canadian Federal Government related to life cycle management, inventory control, procurement, and repair and overhaul.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet customer needs and manage expectations effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask under pressure.
  • Self-motivated and effective in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly advanced Excel skills including Macros, Formulas, and Pivot Tables.
  • Must meet Anthropometrical Size Restrictions.
  • Willingness to travel (10% Canadian, 5% US & International) and possess or be able to obtain a valid passport.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) RCEME Technician with DP2 qualification.
  • Bilingual (French/English).
  • Previous experience as a Life Cycle Material Manager or in Project Management.
  • Extensive knowledge of DND departmental software such as CFSS, DRMIS (SAP), and CGCS.
  • Significant experience with DND equipment maintenance.
  • Operational and/or maintenance experience with the LAV 6.0 Family of Vehicles.
  • Operational and/or maintenance experience with GEN II (Bison/Coyote).
  • Operational and/or maintenance experience with Armoured Combat Support Vehicle (ACSV).
