Position Overview

The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) is in search of a Facilities and Security Director to spearhead the Facilities and Security division. Reporting directly to the Vice-President of Organizational Effectiveness, this role is pivotal in managing a team responsible for all aspects of building operations, including security, functionality, and efficiency. The incumbent will be tasked with formulating frameworks, strategies, and initiatives that effectively cater to business requirements while ensuring a secure and operationally sound environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Annually design and oversee functional KPIs, work plans, and associated resource and budget strategies. Ensure compliance with budgetary and procurement protocols.
  2. Attract, retain, and cultivate a skilled and proficient Facilities team.
  3. Establish, execute, and uphold pertinent policies and procedures that align with business objectives for streamlined facility operations.
  4. Coordinate and supervise the performance and delivery of external service providers for building maintenance, facility-related capital initiatives, and security services.
  5. Formulate and implement security measures, access control systems, and emergency evacuation protocols based on comprehensive risk assessments to mitigate physical security threats.
  6. Oversee and assess the inspection schedule for all routine and non-routine maintenance of building systems across SRC locations to promptly address issues and ensure operational continuity.
  7. Develop and sustain space planning to ensure that business requirements are met while considering cost implications.
  8. Design and execute project plans, budgets, and time-sensitive deliverables through effective collaboration and communication with relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

  1. A bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of experience and education will be taken into account.
  2. A minimum of 15 years of experience in Facilities Management and/or Operations.
  3. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role.

Required Skills

  1. Ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders through effective communication, utilization of relevant data, and a collaborative, adaptable approach to problem-solving.
  2. Exceptional organizational and leadership skills to attract, retain, and develop outstanding talent.
  3. Knowledge of building codes, industrial real estate, space design, electrical systems, fire codes, HVAC systems, and relevant legislation to provide solutions to business challenges with a steadfast commitment to safety.
  4. A customer-centric approach with proven project management capabilities for consistent on-time delivery.
  5. Strong business acumen and analytical skills to evaluate data and recommend preventative strategies.

The selected candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory original Criminal Record Check prior to the commencement of employment duties.
