Environmental Remediation Specialist

We are seeking an Environmental Remediation Specialist to join our team at GHD. As a key member of our environmental engineering team, you will be responsible for preparing project-related technical documents, including environmental reports, technical specifications, work plans, and cost estimates.

Field work and oversight associated with environmental investigations and remediation activities will be required, including site investigations, contractor management, drilling, soil sampling, well installation, groundwater sampling, excavation, contract administration, and vapour sampling.

Project types range from environmental monitoring, due diligence, soil/groundwater management in private and public sectors, including infrastructure and property/building developments. Responsibilities also include supporting contract administration, construction oversight, site inspection/monitoring, operations support, coordination and scheduling of project-related work, and working with other GHD staff, external contractors, and public entities.

Requirements
  • Relevant Bachelor of Civil, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent
  • 0-3 years of experience in the environmental engineering field
  • Experience working in a construction setting is an asset
  • Willingness to travel to undertake field work is required
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail
  • Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Eager to work with multi-discipline engineering teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and be highly communicative
  • Willingness and ability for travel within Ontario and Canada for meetings, site visits, and to conduct field work
  • Candidate must be eligible for TN Work Visa to support work in the US, where required
  • Valid driver's license (an MVR check will be performed prior to hire)
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint
