The Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion unit serves as a centre of expertise, driving the advancement of health equity and inclusion commitments, policies, Indigenous reconciliation commitments, and diversity plans across the department.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and manage the day-to-day delivery and operations of Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion programs and services.
- Develop and implement anti-racism and anti-oppression plans to address and prevent racially inequitable outcomes within the workplace and public health services delivered to communities.
- Oversight and administration of the foundational standard and Health Equity guideline within the Ontario Public Health Standards.
- Collaborate with all service areas to ensure health equity, diversity, and inclusion are foundational to all programming and work with the community.
- Completion of a 4-year university degree in social sciences, business administration, or a related field.
- Master's degree in social or health sciences, public administration, or a related field is desirable.
- 5 years of related experience in community services, equity, inclusion, and/or anti-oppression fields, supporting the development, planning, management, and delivery of programs, projects, and events related to advancing structural or systemic changes in large organizations.
- Expert understanding of anti-oppression, equity, diversity, and inclusion frameworks.
- Knowledge of Ontario Public Health Standards and their relation to health equity.
- Knowledge of social determinants of health impact on health outcomes.
- Expert understanding of community-based social development frameworks.
Designated Bilingual – specific level of language proficiency: French: oral, reading, writing English: oral, reading, writing.
What You Need to Know- Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa's satisfaction.
- Driver's License Requirement: This position requires the successful candidate to use their own transportation.
