Senior Tax Accountant Job Description

Zenbooks is a forward-thinking accounting firm that leverages cloud-based software and virtual bookkeeping to empower small-medium businesses. We're seeking a skilled Senior Tax Accountant to join our team of remote experts.

About the Role:

  1. Connect with clients to gather necessary information for tax returns and election forms.
  2. Organize client information and follow up to obtain additional details.
  3. Review tax returns to ensure all applicable credits, adjustments, and deductions are applied.
  4. Utilize established templates and procedures to maintain efficient workflow.
  5. Stay up-to-date with tax code changes and accounting procedures.
  6. Participate in training sessions to enhance tax knowledge.
  7. Research and explain tax issues, preparing memoranda as needed.
  8. Identify opportunities to improve clients' situations and refer them to the manager.
  9. Address client concerns and collaborate with the Tax Manager to ensure satisfaction.
  10. Support the Tax Manager in addressing CRA review and audit requests.
  11. Prepare Compilation Engagement Reports and checklists.

Requirements:

  1. Undergraduate degree in Accounting.
  2. CPA Designation or CFE Exam completion.
  3. 3-5 years of tax accounting experience.
  4. Experience with cloud software (Xero and/or QBO).
  5. Experience with professional tax software (TaxCycle or TaxPrep).
  6. US Tax experience is a strong asset.
  7. Ability to work overtime and/or shift work, as needed.
  8. Bilingualism is an asset (English and French).
