Job Summary

We are seeking an Estimator in Training to join our team at our Farm & Home Centre in Pincher Creek, AB. As an Estimator in Training, you will develop the skills and expertise to provide estimates, consultation, and advice to customers for building projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist in providing leadership and expertise for in-house project planning, including project scope, plans, material/component specifications, and supporting material/component estimates.
  2. Monitor building material inventory levels, forecast future requirements, and order inventory accordingly.
  3. Maintain and develop relationships with current contractors, architects, engineers, building inspectors, designers, material vendors, trades, local Co-ops, local Home Builders/Contractor Associations, and customers.
  4. Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, or computer-aided drawings and provide customers with detailed estimates outlining building material requirements.
  5. Support the tendering process by providing quantities, costing/pricing, and descriptive information associated with overall building projects.
  6. Develop and maintain a Vendor Reference Database to track and specify material-specific information, including product availability, unit cost, and lead times.
Requirements
  1. 1 to 2 years of related experience such as plumbing, electrical, construction.
  2. Proficiency in computer applications for developing spreadsheets, documents, and customer files.
  3. Honest, trustworthy, results-oriented, and committed to excellence.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
  5. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  6. Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced and pressurized work environment.
  7. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and business acumen.
  8. Work and perform effectively in a team environment.
  9. Valid Class 5 driver's license required for travel within the area.

This is a full-time permanent role located in Pincher Creek, AB. The position requires occasional travel across Pincher Creek Co-op's trading areas.
