Estimator in Training Specialist

Pincher Creek Co-op is seeking a skilled Estimator in Training Specialist to join their team at their Farm & Home Centre in Pincher Creek, AB.

The Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) is a unique, multi-billion-dollar organization rooted in the principles of cooperation. It comprises a network of approximately 250 autonomous retail co-operatives across Western Canada, along with their branch operations and Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL), the wholesaling/manufacturing arm of the CRS.

FCL provides retail co-ops with a range of products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in providing leadership and expertise for in-house project planning, including project scope, plans, material/component specifications, and supporting material/component estimates.
  • Monitor building material inventory levels, forecast future requirements, and order inventory accordingly.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with current contractors, architects, engineers, building inspectors, designers, material vendors, trades, local Co-ops, local Home Builders/Contractor Associations, and customers.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, or computer-aided drawings and provide customers with detailed estimates outlining building material requirements.
  • Support the tendering process by providing quantities, costing/pricing, and descriptive information associated with overall building projects.
  • Develop and maintain a Vendor Reference Database to track and specify material-specific information, including product availability, unit cost, and lead times.

Requirements:

  • 1 to 2 years of related experience such as plumbing, electrical, construction.
  • Proficiency in computer applications for developing spreadsheets, documents, and customer files.
  • Honest, trustworthy, results-oriented, and committed to excellence.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced and pressurized work environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and business acumen.
  • Work and perform effectively in a team environment.

This is a full-time permanent role located in Pincher Creek, AB. The position requires occasional travel across Pincher Creek Co-op's trading areas.
