ROLE OVERVIEW

The Grade Foreman acts as the primary authority under the Superintendent's guidance, responsible for overseeing the implementation of tasks at the construction site.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety Management

Uphold a strong commitment to safety and risk management at all times.Lead daily operational plans with work crews.Conduct weekly safety meetings to address site hazards.Facilitate reviews of company incidents and safety protocols.Perform thorough monthly safety inspections of the work site.Ensure all team members are equipped with and properly using their personal protective equipment (PPE).Implement Ground Disturbance Permit procedures as necessary.Document and communicate near misses as required.Report incidents and accidents promptly and accurately.Ensure compliance with the company's safety manual and relevant regulations.Identify and communicate potential hazards to crew members regularly.Guarantee that all tasks are executed safely, considering potential risks.Maintain cleanliness and safety at work sites.Actively participate in incident investigations and reporting.Oversee the upkeep and cleanliness of vehicles and equipment.

Project Management

Ensure all necessary information and work orders are ready before commencing tasks.Review and comprehend the scope of work and project timelines.Discuss project specifications with the Superintendent.Conduct or verify project layout and surveys as needed.Continuously monitor material usage and production rates.Possess the capability to execute various construction tasks, including grading, curb and gutter installation, and excavation.Enforce disciplinary measures as necessary.Complete tasks on or ahead of schedule while meeting quality standards.Optimize efficiency and minimize costs throughout the project.

Work Coordination

Communicate the daily schedule to all site personnel.Organize and provide clear instructions to the crew, adapting to daily task variations.Supervise daily and weekly operational activities.Ensure that project timelines are adhered to and monitored effectively.

Quality Assurance

Ensure that all work meets established quality standards.Address and rectify deficiencies promptly, keeping the Superintendent informed.Utilize the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process for reporting issues.

Training and Development

Monitor and enhance the skills of crew members.Ensure that new workers complete the required training programs.

Equipment Oversight

Provide necessary materials and equipment for daily maintenance tasks.Ensure operators perform routine checks and maintenance on equipment.Facilitate the completion of daily equipment reports.Communicate any equipment malfunctions to the relevant department.

Documentation and Reporting

Complete daily reports on quantities and additional work orders.Accurately prepare and submit timesheets on a daily basis.Maintain a detailed diary of site activities, discussions, and instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Skills

The role of a Grade Foreman is crucial for leading and executing construction activities on various projects from inception to completion.

Location: Greater Vancouver Area / Fraser Valley Area
