Job Summary

WoodGreen is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child Care Assistant Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our Child Care & Family Services department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and education to children in our licensed child care centres.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a manager in the absence of the manager, performing administrative tasks and directing and supervising program staff, students, and volunteers.
  • Maintain legal staff-child ratios and coordinate with supply staff in cases of staff absenteeism.
  • Plan and implement daily programs that enhance the social, physical, intellectual, cognitive, and emotional development of children.
  • Set reasonable limits according to the child's developmental stage and provide appropriate direction, encouragement, and support individually and in groups.
  • Recognize, deal with, and define unusual behavior and report to management and work with professional and resource persons to address problems.
  • Record daily attendance of children, receive medical information as required, and report to appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure daily safety, health, and hygienic conditions of children.
  • Safely escort children outside of the centre and ensure adequate supervision on all outings.
  • Provide written daily reports on children, complete written assessments and developmental checklists, and inform parents on an ongoing basis regarding children's progress.
  • Ensure upkeep of equipment and furnishings, inform management when replenishment is necessary, share housekeeping responsibilities, and assess equipment needs and make recommendations regarding purchases.
  • Ensure staff timetables are designed to provide for adequate supervision of children at all times and meet all program needs.
  • Collect, record, and deposit parent fees in conjunction with the manager.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree/diploma (ECE) or equivalent plus related specialized training in the field of Early Childhood Education including training in the area Pedagogical Leadership.
  • Current registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE).
  • Valid Standard First Aid/CPR-C.
  • 2 years' experience working in a licensed child care centre.
  • Minimum 1 year management experience preferred, including supervisory experience within a unionized environment.
