Position Highlights:

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual salary ranging from $103,000 to $113,000, in addition to a yearly Northern Allowance benefit of $16,008.
  • Access to Northern Employees Benefits Service (NEBS), which includes health insurance and a pension plan.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate the daily operations of a shelter facility, collaborating with managers from Transitional Housing, Food Services, and Facilities to ensure that meals, environment, and services meet client needs.
  • Oversee the Men's Homeless Shelter Program and the Transitional Housing Program, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and performance outcomes.
  • Develop metrics and data to monitor performance, producing operational reports and forecasts.
  • Address and report on issues; identify and propose improvements; gather feedback from clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure that client health concerns are monitored and addressed appropriately.
  • Support Client Service Workers in providing individualized client services, including participation in the on-call rotation.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to develop and refine programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage staff responsibilities, including recruitment, training, coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Oversee all aspects of the program's financial management, including budget monitoring, reporting, and forecasting.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline.
  • Extensive experience supporting homeless, marginalized, and/or Indigenous populations.
  • Familiarity with relevant federal and territorial legislation, including labor standards and privacy regulations.
  • Knowledge of treatment and support strategies for individuals with complex social and health needs.
  • Understanding of the oppression and marginalization faced by the homeless, particularly the impacts of colonialization on Indigenous health and well-being.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Collaborative and constructive mindset, thriving in a diverse and cross-functional team environment.
  • Results-driven, innovative problem-solver capable of providing practical guidance and proactively addressing issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail, capable of meeting tight deadlines and delivering results within budget.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and social media platforms.
  • Current certifications in First Aid/CPR, Food Safe, WHIMIS, Non-Violent Conflict Resolution, and Health & Safety Supervisor, or the ability to obtain them quickly.
  • Familiarity with Inuit or Indigenous culture is preferred.
