Clinical Social Worker

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Social Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive services to adults with mental health/addiction disorders. Your expertise will be essential in providing group treatment approaches, client, family, and community education about mental health disorders and their treatments.
The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices, and organizational health. You will work closely with our team to ensure that the principles and practices that guide our work are integrated within the services you provide.
This is a short assignment full-time position, requiring 75 hours bi-weekly for approximately 5 months. Travel may be required.
About You- We are looking for a Master's of Social Work with a specialization in a clinical or mental health stream, or a Master's Degree in Social Work from an acceptable educational institution with a significant portion of coursework focused on mental health disorders and treatment.
- Registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work is required.
- Two years' of clinical experience in an inpatient/outpatient mental health setting, providing independent assessment and treatment of adult mental health disorders is essential.
- Competence in assessment, intervention (individual, family, and group), and research is necessary.
- Specialized knowledge of acute and persistent mental illness and concurrent disorders is required.
- Knowledge and competence in evidenced-based interventions such as CBT, and risk assessment are essential.
- Evidence of knowledge and ability to complete mental health assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment using the DSM-5 is required.
- Working knowledge of psychotropic pharmacology is necessary.
- Understanding of substance use, abuse, and dependency is required.
- Knowledge of standards that guide the profession is essential.
- Knowledge of and ability to link to community resources is necessary.
- Strong client focus and ability to build solid client/practitioner relationships is required.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation is essential.
- Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French preferred.
- This is a short assignment full-time position, requiring 75 hours bi-weekly for approximately 5 months.
- Travel may be required.
The hourly rate for this position is $37.31 - $49.05. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
