Job Description

The Canadian Association of Labour Media is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization. As the chief executive officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall strategy and direction of the association, ensuring that our mission and goals are achieved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Provide strategic guidance and direction to the association's leadership team and staff.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the effective management of the organization.
    • Oversee the development and implementation of the association's budget and financial plans.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including members, partners, and government officials.
    • Communicate the association's mission, goals, and activities to members, partners, and the public.
    • Represent the association at conferences, meetings, and other events.
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Develop and implement programs and services that align with the association's mission and goals.
    • Oversee the development and implementation of educational workshops, conferences, and other events.
    • Collaborate with members and partners to develop and implement programs and services.
  • Human Resources and Administration
    • Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of staff.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to human resources and administration.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Relevant post-secondary degree with 8 years of directly related administrative experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
    • Supervisory and/or management experience is required.
  • Skills and Knowledge
    • Superior organization, verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent leadership, judgement, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
    • Ability to negotiate complex issues involving strategy, policy, financial matters, and personnel matters.
    • Ability to organize, schedule, supervise and assess the work of others.
