Job Description

Telesat, a leading global satellite operator, is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our Platform Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying various Cloud-based and on-premise databases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the building and operation of Cloud-based infrastructure for various projects.
  • Design, build, document, and optimize database schemas.
  • Monitor database performance, availability, and security, and audit existing designs.
  • Support database operations across Telesat, including connectivity, integration, design, and maintenance activities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 2 years of relevant industry experience with the deployment, management, and automation of Cloud-based resources.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the operation of databases and related environments.
  • Proven experience in the design, build, and operations of both relational and NoSQL database infrastructure.
  • Experience in the administration of computer systems, such as systems administrator in an operations role.
  • Understanding of DevOps concepts.
  • Familiarity with SRE concepts would be an asset.
  • Understanding of microservices and containerization and container orchestration (Kubernetes) would be an asset.
  • Certifications in Azure and/or AWS, GCP would be an asset.
Working Conditions:

Generally comfortable working conditions with lifting and onsite installations. Moderate visual concentration in use of video display terminal.
